4 Days Tour Marrakech Merzouga
Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorge
Welcome at 8:00 am at the hotel in Marrakesh and departure to Ouarzazate through the High Atlas mountains, Tizi n’Tichka. Throughout the High Atlas mountains have time to stop and enjoy breathtaking scenery, Berber villages, and also coffee and mint tea. Then we will pass by the Ouarzazate or what we call Hollywood of Africa since it has been a very popular destination for the filmmakers. So you will get the opportunity to visit many studios. Then continue towards the valley and gorges of Dades, but first have to pass through the palm grove of Skoura, the city of roses called “Kelaat Mgouna” where you will have the opportunity to visit a rose factory to see how these locals do different products, before arriving at the Dades gorge, where we will spend the night.
Day 2: Dades – Todgha Gorges – Rissani – Dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
From the ravines of Dades we headed to Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) through arid landscapes and along many palm oases; in the valley Todra we drive along the river to the gorges with many breaks to take pictures of the panoramic views, since it is not a short path to the canyons. Todra Gorge is one of the most beautiful and impressive canyons in Morocco with about 300 meters in height. This is what makes it a place for full day hikes for radical climbers. In the afternoon, we are passing through Erfoud or what we call the fossil capital, as it is known for its fossil plants where they make beautiful shapes and pieces of rocky mountains. Then we headed for the sandy sea of Erg Chebbi. We continue deep into the desert landscape until we reach the dunes that appear in the middle of nowhere. Upon arriving at our hostel (Inn) we will find your guide with camel ride in the bivouac (Berber tent) under the stars that shine light in the night sky. Then climb to the dunes to see the moon rise before going to bed in a nomad tent.
Day 3: Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) – Agdez – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
After enjoying the incredible sunrise, from the great dune, we return on camels to the hostel, where we will take a bath and breakfast. So we continued through a different route to Rissani where the Alawite dynasty began to establish a powerful country; So far, the tomb of Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the Alawite dynasty, is there. Our next destination is Nkob, a small Berber village in the southeastern states famed for its kasbahs and palm trees, lunch at a local restaurant or a picnic. In the afternoon, we continue to Ouarzazate through the village of Agdez, along the Draa Valley, which is considered one of the largest valleys in Morocco, for its large number of palm trees and also for its rich history, as was the starting point of many dynasties that ruled Morocco for centuries, such as Almoravids and Saadian. Then we will arrive in Ouarzazate, where we will spend the night.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbahs – Telouet – Marrakech
After breakfast you can enjoy a visit to the movie studios and travel along the great history of the film industry in Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Africa. Then visit the World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou as it was nominated by UNESCO in 1987. This Kasbah Berber which has been used as an important destination for international filmmakers for more than 20 films, was also one of the most important fortress bastions in the ancient Salt Road, where caravans brought slaves, gold, ivory, salt and silk from Sub-Saharan countries to Marrakech. We head for Marrakech via Telouet and the Ounila valley to explore the Glaoui Palace and Kasbah, the beauty of the landscapes and colors that change every 100m. Then we continue our journey to Marrakech through the mountains of the High Atlas and pass through Tizi n’Tichka. End of Marrakesh to Merzouga in 4 days of travel.
